Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 8, 2026

FlyerSky.org ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website flyersky.org (the "Site"). This policy is designed to comply with applicable privacy laws including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), and Oregon state privacy requirements.

Please read this privacy policy carefully. By using the Site, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

We collect information you voluntarily provide when you:

  • Create an account: Email address, username, and password
  • Update your profile: Phone number, social/website links, and contact sharing preferences (whether to share your email and phone number with other users when you express interest in listings)
  • Create content: Groups, events, meetups, news posts, classifieds listings (for sale, housing, jobs, resumes, services), and other user-generated content including titles, descriptions, images, prices, tags, and category selections
  • Express interest in listings: When you express interest in a classifieds listing (for sale, housing, jobs, resumes, or services), we record your interest and, based on your contact sharing preferences, share your contact information (email and/or phone number) with the listing creator
  • Contact us: Name, email address, and message content
  • Set your location: Your selected community/neighborhood location

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you access the Site, we automatically collect certain information:

  • Log data: IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, pages viewed, and access times
  • Device information: Device type, screen resolution, and browser settings
  • Location data: General geographic location based on IP address (city/region level only)

1.3 Push Notification Data

If you choose to enable push notifications, we collect and store:

  • Subscription endpoint: A URL provided by your browser's push service (e.g., Google FCM, Mozilla Push Service, Apple Push) used to deliver notifications to your device
  • Encryption keys: Public keys required to encrypt notification payloads so only your browser can read them
  • Device name: A description of your browser and operating system (e.g., "Chrome on Windows") to help you identify your subscribed devices

Push notification subscriptions are tied to your account. You can view, manage, and remove your subscribed devices at any time from your account settings. We do not share push subscription data with third parties. Notifications are delivered through your browser's built-in push service and may pass through infrastructure operated by your browser vendor (Google, Mozilla, Apple, etc.) in encrypted form.

1.4 Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use only essential cookies that are necessary for the Site to function:

  • Authentication cookies: To keep you logged in and secure your session
  • Location preference cookies: To remember your selected community location

We do not use: Third-party tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics cookies from external services. All analytics are performed in-house using our own systems.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Site
  • Create and manage your account
  • Display content relevant to your selected location
  • Send you push notifications about activity relevant to you, such as when someone expresses interest in your listing, RSVPs to your meetup, or other interactions with your content (only if you have opted in to push notifications)
  • Facilitate connections between users — for example, sharing your contact information (email and/or phone number, based on your sharing preferences) with listing creators when you express interest in their classifieds listings
  • Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support
  • Monitor and analyze usage patterns to improve user experience
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues or abuse
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

We do not share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

We may disclose your information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Public content: Content you post publicly (groups, events, meetups, news, classifieds listings) is visible to other users. This includes listing titles, descriptions, images, prices, categories, tags, and your username.
  • Contact sharing between users: When a user expresses interest in your classifieds listing (for sale, housing, jobs, resumes, or services), your username is shared with them and their username is shared with you. Additionally, each user's email and/or phone number may be shared based on their individual contact sharing preferences, which can be configured in account settings. You control whether your email and phone number are visible to other users through these settings.
  • Push notification delivery: When we send you a push notification, the encrypted notification payload passes through your browser vendor's push service (e.g., Google, Mozilla, Apple). The content is encrypted end-to-end and cannot be read by the push service provider.
  • Legal requirements: When required by law, court order, or governmental authority
  • Protection of rights: To protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property, or that of our users or the public
  • Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (you will be notified of any such change)

4. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, regulatory, or legitimate business purposes.

5. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encryption of data in transit (HTTPS), secure password hashing, and access controls.

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

6. Your Privacy Rights

6.1 Rights for All Users

Regardless of your location, you have the right to:

  • Access your personal information
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete your account and associated data
  • Opt out of non-essential communications

  • Right to data portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Right to object: Object to processing based on legitimate interests

Legal basis for processing: We process your data based on: (a) your consent, (b) performance of a contract with you, (c) compliance with legal obligations, and (d) our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Site.

To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@flyersky.org. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

6.3 California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

Categories of personal information collected: Identifiers (email, username, phone number, IP address), internet activity information (browsing history on our Site), geolocation data (general location and selected community), and device information (browser push notification subscription data).

We do not: Sell personal information, share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use automated decision-making or profiling.

To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@flyersky.org or use the contact form on our Site. We will respond to verifiable requests within 45 days.

6.4 Oregon Residents

As a business based in Oregon, we comply with Oregon's consumer protection laws. Oregon residents may contact us to request information about our data practices or to exercise their privacy rights as described above.

7. Children's Privacy

The Site is not intended for children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately, and we will delete such information.

8. International Data Transfers

Our servers are located in the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States. By using the Site, you consent to this transfer.

For EEA residents, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for any data transfers, including Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable.

9. Third-Party Services

We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. All analytics and monitoring are performed using our own in-house systems. Your data is not shared with Google, Facebook, or any other third-party service providers for tracking purposes.

Push notification delivery: If you enable push notifications, notification messages are delivered through your browser's built-in push service. This means encrypted notification data may pass through servers operated by your browser vendor (e.g., Google for Chrome, Mozilla for Firefox, Apple for Safari). These providers act as intermediaries for delivery only — notification content is encrypted and cannot be read by the push service provider. We do not control the privacy practices of these browser vendors; please refer to their respective privacy policies for more information.

Image hosting: User-uploaded images (such as listing photos and profile images) are stored on third-party cloud storage infrastructure. Images are accessible via direct URL and may be cached by content delivery networks.

The Site may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites. We encourage you to read their privacy policies.

10. Do Not Track Signals

We honor Do Not Track (DNT) signals. Since we do not engage in third-party tracking, your experience on our Site is the same regardless of your DNT settings.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. For significant changes, we may also notify you via email or a prominent notice on the Site.

Your continued use of the Site after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
