I'm Josh Chernoff.
Based in Portland OR,
where I build tech solutions.

I've spent years writing software and working on the internet. As of lately I've tried to put more focus on the issues people have rather than the tech I work in. What I found is that we need better tools for connecting people with their community. I built FlyerSky.org in hopes of doing what used to be done well but has lost its way.

Our Mission

FlyerSky.org exists to strengthen local communities by giving everyone a voice. We believe that meaningful connections happen locally, and that the internet should make it easier, not harder, for neighbors to find each other.

Too often, the ability to reach people depends on having an existing audience, a marketing budget, or knowing the right algorithms. We think that's backwards. A person hosting a neighborhood cleanup, a musician playing their first local show, or someone offering tutoring services shouldn't need a social media following to be discovered.

Who This Is For

Community Organizers

Whether you're starting a book club, organizing a neighborhood watch, or bringing people together around a shared interest, FlyerSky gives you the tools to grow your group without needing an existing network.

Local Businesses & Services

Small business owners, freelancers, and service providers can reach their local community directly. No ads, no algorithms, just people in your area looking for what you offer.

Event Hosts

Planning a garage sale, a community potluck, or a local workshop? Post it here and let your neighbors know. Events are organized by location so the right people can find them.

Anyone Without a Platform

New to town? Don't have thousands of followers? That's fine. FlyerSky is built for people who just want to share something with their community without having to build an audience first.

Why We Built This

Remember when you could post a flyer on a community board and actually reach people? The internet promised to make that easier, but somewhere along the way it became about engagement metrics, advertising revenue, and keeping people scrolling.

We wanted to bring back that simple idea: a place where you can share what you're doing with the people around you. No followers required. No pay-to-play. Just local people connecting over local things.

FlyerSky.org is free to use, doesn't track you across the web, and doesn't sell your data. We believe community tools should serve the community, not exploit it.
